Knowledge Intensive Business Services are important supporters of other regional industries which rely on them to provide vital services in order to enable them to compete in today’s global market.
Knowledge Intensive Business Services (KIBS) covers a number of key sectors in the North East, including Business, Professional & Financial Services, Business Process Outsourcing and Call/Contact/Shared Service Centres. Some of the well known regionally based employers are Northern Rock, British Airways, Orange, EDS, Barclaycard, N Power, GNER, CJ Garland, Dickinson Dees.

Service Network: Service Network is a membership organisation representing the Knowledge Intensive Business Service (KIBS) sector in the North East of England. The membership of nearly 300 companies consists of a close knit group of people with similar views and objectives.
The network offers a platform for members to make meaningful contacts with like minded service providers, increase awareness of their businesses, and supply intelligence to help them develop, grow and ultimately become more successful.
e-skills: e-skills UK's mission is to ensure the UK has the skills it needs to compete in the global economy. e-skills UK brings together employers, educators and Government to address together the technology-related skills issues no one party can solve on its own. It provides advice, services and programmes that have a measurable impact on IT related skills development in the UK.
